Dialogue with the Spirit of Trees
(2025-, on going )
English / 日本語
Whenever I encounter an ancient tree, I feel drawn to its quiet, commanding presence. Its wide-reaching roots seem to absorb the earth’s energy and channel it into the thick trunk. As I stand before it, that power begins to flow gently into me—surrounding me, calming me, and beginning to heal me.
The invisible energy held within the trunk is unmistakably the “soul of the tree.” When I open my heart, accept the tree as an equal being, and offer it respect, it responds—silently, but surely. This is a dialogue beyond words: a deep, soulful exchange.
The philosopher Martin Buber once said, “I consider a tree. The tree is no longer ‘It.’ It becomes ‘Thou.’” I believe that true dialogue begins with reverence and leads to genuine, trusting relationships.
In a world where real communication is increasingly rare, I feel that now, more than ever, we must return to dialogue—rooted in respect for all living beings.
